The area in kottayam (LIC building, nagambadom) where trees where cut down which resulted in the evacuation of hundreds of rare species birds. Hundreds of baby birds found dead in the nest, since it was there breeding time.
Presently protests are going on by different organizations against this and also for the protection of rest of the trees and birds.

INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENTS ARE REQUIRED, BUT NOT THROUGH KILLING AND TORTURING OF OTHER LIVING BEINGS......
ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT NATURE WILL FREQUENTLY ANSWER US THROUGH TSUNAMI'S, EARTH QUAKE'S,SOIL EROSION'S FOR ALL THE THINGS THAT WE HAD DONE AGAINST HER.......

  1. A GLAD NEWS : The bird survey conducted by the Kottayam Nature Society and the Department of Forests and Wildlife in Kottayam municipal area has identified 2,181 birds. According to Dr. B Sreekumar, the largest single group was crows numbering 664. Next came the spotted doves (635) followed by darters numbering 224. The darters had flocked to the campus of the PWD Travellers’ Bungalow on the TB Road, making it an ecologically sensitive area. Dr. Sreekumar said this area should be transformed into a mini-sanctuary for birds. The survey was conducted from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. According to him, 25 persons participated in the survey, which was the first of its kind in Kottayam.
